About Platform
The China-Brazil Sustainable Food Value Chain Platform is a bilateral initiative launched by CAAS and FGV, in partnership with IFPRI, to jointly promote sustainable, low-carbon agricultural trade — with a strategic focus on the soybean and beef value chains.
As major agricultural countries and trade partners, Brazil and China play crucial roles in jointly building green food value chains toward the carbon-neutrality commitment. The impact of climate change on Brazilian soybean and beef exports to China is strategic for both countries. There is a need to advance agricultural cooperation in technology, trade standards and green investment, connecting potential partners and establishing a space for collaboration around sustainable value chains.
Mission
Analyze and promote low-carbon agricultural trade between China and Brazil through cooperation in research, dialogue, capacity-building, identification and matching of technologies, partnership development and knowledge sharing — toward integrated policies on land use, climate change, agricultural productivity and food security.
Vision
Become the bilateral institutional reference for the green transition of soybean and beef value chains between Brazil and China — articulating science, policy and the productive sector for sustainable, traceable and deforestation-free agricultural trade.
Institutional cooperation
Jointly hosted by FGV (Brazil), IFPRI (international) and CAAS (China), with the engagement of partner institutions in both countries.
