On 9 September 2025, CIAR at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences hosted 29 representatives from Brazil’s agricultural sector. Held under the Platform for China–Brazil Green Food Value Chain, the exchange explored cooperation on greener agricultural production and trade.
Participants considered ways to improve supply-chain transparency, share research and data, and advance low-carbon farming. Proposed cooperation included greenhouse-gas measurement and verification, analysis of sustainability policies and market access, and demonstration projects involving businesses.
CIAR presented its international cooperation programmes and discussed how the platform could connect researchers, enterprises and policymakers. Brazilian delegates outlined interests in germplasm, poverty reduction, food safety, standards, certification and knowledge exchange.
The discussion also involved the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, IFPRI’s China Office and the World Resources Institute. Both sides agreed to continue communication and identify practical follow-up activities.
